Designed, co-facilitated and documented an ‘Expert Discussion on Operationalizing Nutritional Care and Support for Infants in the Context of HIV Treatment Simplification’. This two-day meeting was convened to brainstorm, discuss and map out what needs to be done to ensure successful nutritional care and support for mothers and infants, as countries review, consider and transition to options B and B+. The report is being used by UNICEF for advocacy purposes and is available on request.

Johannesburg, South Africa: May - September 2012

Wrote advocacy paper on improving social protection in fragile states through the use of food and cash-based social transfers. Consultant developed and analyzed three case studies: South Sudan, Pakistan and the DRC as a basis forformulating ten advocacy messages for WV, INGOs and UN agencies, donors and host-governments.


FHI 360, on behalf of CORE Group’s technical working groups on nutrition and HIV Washington D.C., USA: February – March, 2012

Co-facilitated a two-day, state of the art (SOTA) conference on Nutrition Assessment, Counseling and Support (NACS) entitled Getting the Knack of NACS and wrote conference report documenting the evidence base, lessons learned, promising practices and proposed way forward regarding NACS programming. Academy for Educational Development (AED)/John Snow Inc. (JSI)

Washington, D.C., USA: November 2009-February 2010

Designed and co-facilitated the Technical Consultation on Food and Nutrition Programming for OVC and their Families. The Technical Consultation was organized through the joint efforts of a multi-partner planning group led by AED, and including JSI, Save the Children, USAID and OGAC/PEPFAR. It created a unique opportunity for inter-sectoral dialogue among OVC, food security and nutrition specialists, with the aim of identifying the programmatic needs of OVC technical staff at NGOs and USAID missions operating within PEPFAR programs.

UN Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT) on Children and HIV and AIDS – Social Protection working group
New York: May-June, 2008

Conducted research and wrote advocacy paper on social protection for vulnerable children in high HIV prevalence contexts, with a focus on viewing social welfare services as a critical component of a social protection framework. The work, entitled Social Protection for Vulnerable Children in the Context of HIV and AIDS: Moving towards a more Integrated Vision, was supervised by UNICEF and the Better Care Network.

Singapore and Johannesburg Offices: July 2007–September 2007

Conducted research and wrote a lessons learned document entitled World Vision Shelter Programming: Leaning from the Asia Tsunami Response. The study discusses five thematic areas of global learning and includes case studies from WV (and other NGO) programs in India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Document is available on request.
